Kelly and Richard's flower story
Kelly and Richard’s wedding took place on their family farm, a working farm with lots of large industrial vehicles around – not that you would have known it. By the time I arrived to dress the reception marquee, the place was pristine, not a cow or a tractor insight! The family had all really pulled together and worked so hard on the clean up - it was spotless for the big day.
Just as well because Kelly’s wedding was a very pretty one, not rural or rustic at all. She wanted a soft and elegant look, the flowers carefully chosen to compliment the bridal party - all pretty in pinks.
Textured foliage, Eucalyptus, Pistache and soft Ruscus, framed the ‘stars’of the show, Café au Lait dahlias and hydrangeas – these are truly gorgeous statement pieces. Standard and garden roses, astilbe, waxflowers and stock were added to make a lovely late summer palette, so romantic.
The bouquets picked up the dusky theme in fulsome, hand-holding arrangements tied with simple ribbons. Lots of flowers were used to keep everything pretty for the bride and bridesmaids.
The flower girls wore delicate flower crowns of spray roses and tiny scented waxflowers finished with soft pink ribbons. The tiniest had a flower wand of the same. So gorgeous.
The couple married in a nearby church. Bunches of foliage and flowers were used to dress the pew ends and for a huge Urn wisps of fern were added too. After the ceremony these were used to decorate the reception barn.
The really wow factor was already here though. A huge chandelier, over one metre in diameter and foam-free, dressed with a beautiful mix of foliage and dahlias, hydrangeas, and the biggest secret garden roses I have ever seen. To get this into place we borrowed a handy cherry picker on site. And behind the top table a large foliage heart. Natural, elegant, perfect.
This was a lovely wedding, just the right mix of fancy and farm! All perfect for this bride and groom.
